Examples of how Satan uses misinformation and lies to spew hatred towards those who express their love for God by claiming the victory in Christ to live obediently to Him. "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ" (Revelation 12:17, KJV). In this video, the host makes claims saying that Seventh-day Adventists suggest that Jesus is an angel named Michael. However this is a deception. Seventh-day Adventists believe and teach that Jesus is a complete member of the Godhead, the Son of God, our Savior from sin and the Creator of the world. Under no circumstances do we teach that Jesus is an angel.
Jesus had many names in the Bible: "Emmanuel", the "Son of God", "Christ", "Son of Man", "Redeemer", "Messiah", etc. He existed before coming into this world as a child so it's only natural that He had a name before being born in Bethlehem. In fact, "Jesus" is not His name as written in Hebrew, it's Yahshua.
A few things to consider for this discussion are:
1) The word "El" means "god". Notice its use in the following names - Elohim (plural for god), Daniel ("God is my judge"), Gabriel ("man of God"), Israel ("prevails with God"), Michael ("who is like God").
2) The word "arch" in "archangel" means "ruler" or one who reigns over (e.g. "monarch"). Just as the president of the United States is the Commander-in-Chief of the military without actually being in the military, Michael is the Ruler over the angels without actually being an angel.
Another example of this can be seen in Genesis 1:28, where God gave man "dominion" or "lordship" over all creatures on the earth. Just because we were given this authority does not make us animals or fish.
3) In Joshua 5:13-15, we see that the Commander of the Lord's army was worshiped. If this had been an angel, he would have stopped Joshua from worshiping him (Revelation 19:10; 22:8-9), however this was not the case. In fact, the Commander (Jesus) says in verse 15, "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy."
4) Daniel 12:1 refers to Michael as "the Great Prince who protects your people". Daniel 9:25 refers to the Messiah as "the Prince". These two names equal the same thing, making them equal to each other.
5) First Thessalonians 4:16 says, "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first" (NIV). Notice that the dead will rise after hearing the voice of the archangel. John 5:28-29 says, "Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his (Jesus) voice and come out—those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned" (NIV). These are parallel accounts of the same event. In Matthew 25:31 we read that Jesus will come with all the angels, indicating that He is their Commander.
There are other points that could be included to support that "Michael" is another name for Jesus, however these points should crack the surface of understanding.
When studying biblical topics, its important to study "line upon line", "precept upon precept", "here a little, there a little" (Isaiah 28:10, 13); everything must be collected together to obtain a more complete understanding. Saying that Michael is another name for Jesus does not degrade or demote Jesus to the status of an angel. It highlights the fact that He leads the angelic host in the cosmic conflict with Satan for our souls.
